The university has five academic buildings with modern facilities and resources including multimedia lecture rooms, computer labs, a comfortable student residence hall, six canteens, a training and field base, an open air museum, a recreation facility with ten gyms, a swimming pool, and exercise rooms with modern sport equipment.
NVSU is a regional center for international cooperation in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Area - Yugra and a regional leader in the number of foreign students and international projects being implemented. To scale up innovation, it successfully participates in major international projects and science and technology cooperation programs.
Internationalization of education and research is one of the university's priorities and a strategically important vector of its development. The university aims to integrate itself into the global academic environment, to improve the quality of education and its compliance with international standards.
The key areas of international activity are participation in international programs and projects, development of education export and academic student and staff mobility, expansion of partnership with foreign universities and international organizations.

NVSU provides high quality preparatory and bridging Russian language courses for foreign students including a full course (2 semesters – academic year) or an express course (1 trimester – 3 months).
The course fee is 400$ per month (which includes the tuition fee, accommodation in the university's hall of residence, course materials, medical insurance if necessary, an invitation letter, and postal expenses)
NVSU is certified to offer TORFL (Test of Russian as a Foreign Language) exam and issue a state-approved certificate of international standard verifying the candidates' knowledge of the Russian language they need to enroll at a Russian university, find a job in Russia or teach Russian.
