Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts (ASICA) is the basic and the only regional higher education institution in Russia which trains staff in the field of culture and arts for the largest region of Russia – the northeast of the Arctic zone.
ASICA is one of the well-known leaders in training creative staff for the small-numbered peoples of the Arctic.
796 students from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), different regions of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia are studying at ASICA.
In 2022, ASICA was included in the state support program “Priority 2030. Far East,” which allows it to develop dynamically, introduce new study programs, and upgrade its facilities and resources.

Admission
International applicants can apply to ASICA in two ways:
1. Firstly, you can study for free!
For this purpose, you must apply for admission through the official portal of Rossotrudnichestvo – education-in-russia.com in autumn (the dates can change) and get a state-funded place at the institute.
Under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo, ASICA provides state-funded places for full-time students in the following fields of study:
- Applied Informatics
- Folk Art Culture (majors: Movie-, Photo- and Video Creativity Studio Direction; Ethnocultural Center Management; Amateur Dance Company Direction)
- Sociocultural Activity
- Library and Information Activity
- Instrumental Performance
- Decorative and Applied Arts and Folk Crafts
- Acting
- Painting
- Graphics
State-funded students are sure to get:

2. Secondly, you can apply directly to ASICA and enroll in a fee-paying place.
Pay close attention to the announcements on the Rossotrudnichestvo portal, participate in the events held by the Center of Russian Culture in Mongolia, and visit the ASICA website. Do not worry if you see the requirements for competitive selection or additional creativity exams. Try to keep in touch during the admission period not to miss the call from the Admission Office staff member.

Nota bene!
For some creative fields of study, ASICA holds online entrance exams. The exams are held after your application appears on the Rossotrudnichestvo portal in the ASICA personal account. For this purpose, the Admission Office staff will contact you at the phone number specified in your application.
Studies
ASICA trains specialists in music, art, socio-cultural and theater fields of study.
In 2023, ASICA launches two new higher education programs:
- the Folk Art Culture program (major: Movie-, Photo- and Video Creativity Studio Direction)
- the Master’s program in Library and Information Activity (major: Theory and Methodology of Library Activity Cognitology in the Digital Environment)
The institute also enrolls students in the advanced educational programs:
- Spatial Design
- Digital Graphic Design
- Fashion and Textile
- Jewelry Design
The institute has two laboratories studying the deep layers of the cultural code of the peoples of the North. To provide scientific support for the jewelry design track, the institute is setting up the Jewelry Design Laboratory.
Design
Full-time study
Rossotrudnichestvo holds competitive selection in cooperation with the ministries of education of the countries of residence. Follow the announcements of Rossotrudnichestvo, the Center of Russian Culture in Mongolia, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia as early as the autumn of the year preceding the admission year.
Students from Mongolia Nyamzhav Orgilbayar (the third-year student) and Uyanga Bathuu (the second-year student) are majoring in Amateur Dance Company Direction. Teacher at the Department of Folk Art Culture of ASICA.
Scholarships
International state-funded students at ASICA who entered the institute under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo get state academic scholarships from the RF budget throughout the entire study period regardless of their academic progress. The state scholarship is 7,000–8,500 RUB.
Adaptation
To adapt international students, the institute holds mass cultural events familiarizing international students with the history and culture of Yakutia, themed concerts, discussions, movie screenings, sports and entertainment events, forums, relays, quests, creative contests and festivals. The institute students take an active part in student organizations and volunteering movements.
