On October 20-22, 2025, Moscow hosted the XVII Russian World Assembly aimed at continuing a discussion on the preservation of values, ideals, and fundamental principles of the Russian World, the promotion of the Russian language, and the preservation of cultural and historic heritage in present-day conditions. The main theme of the event was “Russian World Fundamental Contribution to the International Development: History, the Present, and the Future.”

The Assembly brought together over 500 people from all over the world interested in the development of humanitarian cooperation with Russia: Russian language teachers from leading foreign universities, literary scholars, linguists, translators and interpreters, writers and journalists, public figures and diplomats, culture and education specialists, the media, members of the Russian expat community, clergy, and youth communities.
As part of the Assembly, panel discussions and thematic platforms were organized, where the current position of the Russian language in the world, education in Russia, and many other urgent issues were discussed. The participants brought forward proposals to create next-generation Russian as a foreign language course content, support and organize advanced training for foreign specialists in Russian philology, and develop networking cooperation programs for specialists in Russian philology.
The event also included the award ceremonies for foreign culture and education specialists and journalists who have made a substantial contribution to the promotion of the Russian language and literature, as well as winners of international contests and Olympiads related to studying or teaching the Russian language.
Representatives of 105 countries took part in the XVII Russian World Assembly.

Results of 2025
We supported over 600 events and projects and allocated 83 grants.
Over 700 Russian language teachers received advanced training, and around 1,500 students signed up for online courses.
We held 4 summer language camps, professional skills competitions, and Russian language Olympiads.
We prepared 4 new centers of the Russkiy Mir (Russian World) for opening, replenished the library collections of foreign universities and Russian language centers in 19 countries, and updated equipment at the Russian Centers in 9 countries.
The audience of the foundation’s information resources and TV and radio content exceeded 1 million foreign visitors.

I want to express my gratitude to the Russkiy Mir Foundation for an invitation to take part in the XVII Assembly. In today’s context of international relations, such events make an extremely valuable contribution to the strengthening of mutual understanding between the peoples, the expansion and consolidation of friendly relations, and the development of a culture focused on humanistic values.
Today over 50 Paraguayan students are pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programs in a variety of professional fields at Russian universities. I am sure that such programs must be appreciated and recognized as one of the firmest foundations for friendship between Paraguay and Russia.

TATRLL holds diverse events and implements projects to promote the Russian language and Russian literature and culture at secondary schools, universities, international exhibitions, and culture centers. We have become a bridge between the two countries. The Embassy of Russia in Tunisia also always supports us and shows great interest in our activities.
TATRLL consists of 50 members, including 27 young teachers and students. In 2025, 15 new members joined us, which indicates an increasing interest in the Russian language in Tunisia. We have signed important agreements on cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Tunisia and the Russian House in Tunisia, which opens new horizons for our initiatives.

Interest in studying the Russian language в Tsinghua University is great. We still do not have a Russian language faculty, but we have a language center where students can sign up for courses of Russian as a second foreign language. Today the courses are attended by over 190 students pursuing various fields of study, from nuclear and aerospace engineering and electronic technologies to humanities and social sciences.
Today the Russian language proficiency provides graduates with golden opportunities for their professional careers. In the context of the strengthening of comprehensive interaction between China and Russia, there has been a considerable increase in demand for interpreters as well as specialists who speak Russian.

Today 85 people are studying Russian at University of Baghdad. Students enter the Russian language department because they love Russian and want to go to Russia to get acquainted with Russian culture. After completing their studies they will be able to work as translators and interpreters or get a job at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq. They also have the opportunity to cooperate with Russian oil companies.
Our department employs 40 teachers, most of whom earned PhD or Master’s degrees in Russia. In the classroom, we use the textbook by V.G. Kostomarov “Russian Language for Everyone” but in 2025 the Russkiy Mir Foundation presented the department with 60 various study guides that are already used or studied to be used in the following year.
