Programme presentation. The programme “Document and Archive Sciences” is targeted at acquainting students with historical and documentary heritage and forming theoretical and practical skills in the field of document science, record management, archiving, and research. The study process is focused on implementing contemporary information technologies, which ensures availability of the best databases of practices of the city and the research laboratory of the Department – “Information Technologies in Education”.

The Programme is distinguished with a certificate of quality of the project “Federal Internet Exam in the Sphere of Professional Education”. The Department maintains co-operation with Bulgarian HEIs, invites leading teachers from national and foreign partner HEIs for conducting lectures and master-classes. Three foreign students attend classes of the Programme.

Teaching staff. The teaching staff of the Department consists of experienced teachers (professor A.S. Dedeneva, assistant-professors A.A. Aksyuhin, T.M. Anurina, L.M. Kondrakova) and young PhDs (D.N. Gribkov, Z.V. Meksheneva). At the present time three teachers are finishing their thesis research. L.N. Markovicheva was awarded the title “Honorary Archiver”, T.M. Anurina, N.V. Morozova underwent training in the programme “Internal Auditing of the Quality Management System”.

The Department has a good tradition of conducting status international internet conferences: “Electronic Informational Space for Science, Education, Culture”, “Museums, Archives and Libraries in Modern Information Society”

Competitiveness of students. The average passing grade of applicants for the Programme according to the State Examination is 182. During the academic process students actively participate in national internet conferences on document science and archive science, specialized inter-HEI conferences. Four students of the Department are participants of the international summer school in Bulgaria “Cloud technologies – information, innovations, cooperation, knowledge exchange ISSS-2014” (2014). Every year students are awarded personal scholarship of Oryol region governor, A.F. Gerasimov scholarship and others.

Interaction with employers. Employers take an active part in the academic process and research activity of the Department. Over 50% of graduation theses are developed by orders and with the involvement of partner organizations.
