Awards and achievements. The programs successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020 and professional-public accreditation carried out by the Information & Computer Technologies Industry Association in 2017.

Teaching staff.  The program is delivered by 42 teachers. Over 30% have an academic degree of Doctor of Sciences. The institute develops academic staff mobility. The scientists from Russia, Germany, Uzbekistan are engaged in the teaching process.

Facilities and resources. The Department of Applied Informatics has the specialized laboratory “Data Management” with state-of-the-art training and scientific equipment.

Research. Students and teachers regularly take part in scientific events: International Youth School "Trends in Information Technology Development" (YSIP-2017, YSIP-2019), international research conference on educational research in IT "Innovative Approaches to the Application of Digital Technologies in Education and Research" (SLET-2019), Multidisciplinary Symposium on Computer Science and ICT "Integration of Current Research Problems and Solutions to Global Challenges" (REMS-2018).

Strategic partners. Dresden University of Technology (Germany), University of Coimbra (Portugal), Ivannikov Institute for System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), industrial enterprises such as NEOLANT Service, Business IT, etc.

International projects and programs. The institute established the international laboratory of computer and mathematical modeling of non-linear processes in cooperation with RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (Germany), the international laboratory of cyber-physical systems with the Dresden University of Technology, the international laboratory of cybersecurity in cooperation with L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan).

Competitive advantages. The department participates in regional, Russian and international grant programs and projects. It organizes the regular International Youth School "Trends in Information Technology Development" (YSIP) in cooperation with the International Center for Computational Logic of the Dresden University of Technology.

Assistance and support for international students and teachers. Today this program enrolls students from Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and other countries. The language of instruction is Russian, and training is provided according to uniform curricula and programs.
