Programme presentation. This educational programme is connected with the fastest growing area of human activities – information technology.

The effectiveness of teaching activities depends directly on the modern material and technical resources of the graduate department. Computer classrooms are provided with sufficient software. Laboratory classrooms are equipped with stands based on microprocessors of different types and microchips of medium- and large-scale integration.

The department’s activity aims to teach students how to work with software and hardware of different companies such as IBM, HP, Intel, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, in particular with the supercomputer grid-system and operating systems Windows, UNIX, Linux, Solaris, with different programming languages, Web-, CASE- and OLAP- technologies and others.

Teaching staff. 21 Candidates of Sciences and 9 Doctors of Sciences including 2 Honoured Scientists of Russian Federation, a corresponding member of the RussianAcademy of Agricultural Sciences, an Honoured Teacher of RF, an Honoured Worker of NSTU participate in the educational process. Some teachers combine their teaching activities with work in production sphere.

The Scientific School of Thought “Applied Multifunctional Statistical Analysis of Signals and Data”, the Research Centre for “Applied Data Analysis”, Multi Access Centre “Distributed Parallel Computing Systems”, Information Analysis Centre “Information Technology and Numeral Systems” function at the Department.

Competitiveness of students. Students of the Programme take an active part in research and practice conferences, contests and international exchange programmes. They undertake internship in the institutes of SB RAS, in the branch institutes, small and large companies of Novosibirsk and other cities of Russia. Over 70% of young people start working experience in their 3rd year and do graduation work on relevant topics.

Upon completion of the study, students may continue education in the postgraduate programme or get an additional qualification of a web designer, a system manager and a designer of profession-oriented computer technologies. Graduates work in all developed and developing countries of the world, particularly in the USA, Japan, Canada, Germany, and South Korea. They develop software and hardware allowing people to computerize all the stages of information process.
