Awards and achievements of the educational program. In 2016, top ranked by the project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia (2016). In 2017, the program was evaluated by the external expert panel of the National Centre for Public Accreditation. The evaluation was performed by the employees of the leading Russian educational organizations and scientists from Germany and Serbia.

Teaching staff. Four Doctors of Sciences, eight Candidates of Sciences, including holders of the title of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Science and Education of the RussianAcademy of Natural History. The specialists and heads of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the StavropolTerritory are also engaged in the educational process. The teachers of the department are included in the State Environmental Expert Evaluation Board of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the StavropolTerritory.

University partners within the educational program. The Gazprom TransgazStav-topol gas transportation company; the Directorate of the Federal Supervisory Natural Resources Management Service for the StavropolTerritory; the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the StavropolTerritory.

The department cooperates with the SouthScientificCenter of the RussianAcademy of Sciences, A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the RussianAcademy of Sciences. It implements joint research projects with Jordan University of Science and Technology.

Students' and alumni's achievements. Students regularly participate in the North Caucasian Youth Forum «Mashuk,» presenting their ideas and projects, become holders of grants provided by the UMNIK Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology and winners and laureates of various ecology contests, including innovative projects. They are winners of the Ecology Internet Olympiads, holders of bronze certificates of the Federal Internet Exam for Bachelor graduates.

Facilities and resources. The classrooms are equipped in accordance with up-to-date requirements. There are state-of-the-art laboratories and devices. The Ecoanalytical Laboratory has state-of-the-art close control equipment, which allows students to obtain representative data on contaminants in natural environments. Students can use partitive analytical equipment for field research.

Opportunities for students. Students undergo internships at the Federal Supervisory Natural Resources Management Service (the Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor for the Stavropol Territory), the SevKav-NIPIgaz gas company, Stavropol Agricultural Research Institute of the Russian Agricultural Academy, and other enterprises with subsequent employment opportunities.
