HEI’s image. The Faculty of Folk Instruments of the GNESSINSRussianAcademy of Music is proud of its graduates – the People’s Artists of the USSR V.I. Fedoseev, Y.I. Kozakov, A.I. Poletaev, and the People’s Artists of the Russian Federation M.F. Rozhkov, A.N. Gus, V.F. Gridin and many others. The Faculty’s graduates work in leading orchestras and ensembles of Russia, concert and philharmonic associations, musical educational institutions of all levels, perform the management of creativity groups in Russia and abroad – the USA, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, England, China and other countries.

Programme presentation. The Faculty initiates and conducts prestigious national and international forums: the International Festival “Bayan and Bayanists”, the National Day of Bayan, Accordeon and Harmonica, International Competition of Bayanists and Accordionists in Moscow, P.I. Necheporenko International Competition, the Festival “Constellation of Maestros”, the National Event “Balalaika is the Soul of Russia”, the Festival “Strings of Young Russia”.

The Faculty is supplied with modern material and technical equipment in accordance with the Federal educational standards; this includes musical instruments, library, audio and video libraries. Media files are accessible through computer terminals located in the Academy’s buildings.

In 2014, the study programmes of all levels of training delivered by the Faculty successfully passed public accreditation (Certificate No.1341-08-A022.1).

Teaching staff. The Faculty comprises two major departments: theDepartment of Bayan and Accordion and the Department of String Folk Instruments. The highest level of training is provided by over 20 professors, 6 assistant-professors, 12 People’s Artists of the Russian Federation and Honoured Artists of the Russian Federation. World renowned musicians teach at the Faculty: People’s Artists of the Russian Federation, professors F.R. Lips, V.A. Semyonov, Y.P. Dranga, M.A. Gorobtsov; Honoured Artists of the Russian Federation, professors Y.A. Vostrelov, N.A. Komolyatov; Honoured Workers of Art of the Russian Federation, professors M.I. Imhanitsky, V.B. Boldyrev.

Interaction with employers. The academic process is conducted in close cooperation with such famous groups as the National Academic Ossipov Balalaika Orchestra, the Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments of VGTRK, Lyudmila Zykina State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble “Russia”, the State Academic Russian Concert Orchestra “Boyan”.
