Programme presentation. Training bachelors of the specialty “Heat Power Engineering and Heat Engineering” has been carried out by NNSTU within the profile “Thermal Power Stations” since 1993. The Department’s graduates are skilled in research, design, production and technology, management, assembling and adjusting, maintenance and exploitation.

The University has created every condition for training engineers for heat power industry; extensive use of contemporary technical equipment and computer technologies allows students to study such academic disciplines as Thermodynamics, Heat-and-Mass Exchange, Fluid and Gas Dynamics and many others.

Teaching staff. The study process is performed by highly-qualified teaching staff, which includes an academician and a correspondent member of RAS, 30 Doctors and 60 Candidates of Sciences. Training is conducted by the University’s teachers in cooperation with leading specialists of the atomic power industry.

Competitiveness of students. The highest quality of acquired competencies enables graduates to use them not only in the sphere of heat power engineering but also in nuclear industry enterprises and alternative renewable power engineering. About 50% of students, according to the results of intermediate attestation, have good and excellent marks. Best students are awarded scholarships. The current development of the Russian energy sector provides high demand for the Programme’s graduates. Bachelors have an opportunity to continue their studies as postgraduates.

Interaction with employers. The students do working practice, develop graduation theses and find employment at the enterprises of power plant engineering, central heating power plants, thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, energy generating and energy supply companies, research and production, research and design companies of the State Corporation “Rosatom”, engineering companies. A number of academic disciplines are taught at the University’s basic departments in OJSC “Afrikantov Experimental Design Bureau for Medical Engineering” and NIAEP Company – JSC “Atomstroyexport” by the leading specialists of the companies.
