Programme presentation. The Programme is delivered within the educational profile “Atomic Power Plants and Units”. The bachelors are trained for research, design, production and managerial professional activity. The study process is oriented to acquiring professional competencies, mastering research, experimental and practical skills in the field of nuclear power industry and technology, and the defence complex. Classes, are con-ducted in information and education centre, with the use of up-to-date equipment and information technologies. In the framework of cooperation with specialized enterprises of nuclear power industry the Institute performs research and design work, aimed at solving specific production tasks.

Teaching staff. Teaching of the highest level is provided by qualified teaching staff, which includes an academician and correspondent member of the RussianAcademy of Sciences, 30 Doctors and 60 Candidates of Sciences.

Competitiveness of students. Students and teachers actively participate in national and international conferences, Olympiads, exhibitions of nuclear power industry. Graduates are highly demanded in research-production and research-design companies of the State corporation “Rosatom”, power plant engineering enterprises, OJSC “Joint Ship Building Corporation”, companies and ships of OJSC “Atomflot”, power-generating and power- supply companies, engineering firms.

Interaction with employers. Employees of nuclear power industry companies actively participate in the academic process and research activity of the Department: they conduct lectures, practical and laboratory classes. Specialists of the basic departments of OJSC “Afrikantov Experimental Design Bureau” and NIAEP Company – JSC “Atomstroyexport” train students and employ them after graduation. Students are placed for work experience at the leading companies of nuclear power industry (“Atomflot”, Kola Nuclear Power Plant, Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant, Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, OJSC “IzhorskiyeZavody”, ship repair yard “Nerpa”, the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors, the Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics, the Centre of Ship Repair “Zvyozdochka”), where they get an opportunity to master contemporary equipment and technological processes.
