Programme presentation. The students acquire professional competencies which are necessary for working in electric power and defence industry, in the sphere of electric power supply, electric power system and networks, electric drives and automation, electric power transport, car electrical equipment, electromechanical systems of autonomous units. Bachelors acquire skills of design, production and management, research, installation, adjustment, and servicing. The study process involves using modern technologies during the students’ work experience in major enterprises of Russia, and due to long-term cooperation with world-famous producers of electrical equipment. The University maintains cooperation with leading Russian HEIs, such as Moscow Power Engineering Institute, IvanovoStatePowerEngineeringUniversity. Today nine foreign students study the Programme.

Teaching staff. Teaching is performed by experienced professors A. Loskutov, G. Vagin, B. Papkov, A. Kulikov, O. Hvatov, V.Titov, E.Chernov, A.Chivenkov, assistant-professors V. Vanyaev, V. Sokolov, V. Melnikov, A.Plekhov, and young scientists. During the last 30 years, the research conference “Current Problems of Electric Power Industry” has been held annually.

Competitiveness of students. The average passing grade of the Programme’s applicants is 205. Students actively participate in national and international research conferences: “Future of Engineering Science”, “Innovational Technologies in Education”, “Benardos’s Readings” and others. Students are co-authors of research articles, which are published in the RSCI journals; they take part in implementing state contracts, and are prize winners of the Olympiads in electric engineering.

Interaction with employers. Regional enterprises (“IDGC of the Centre and the Volga Region”, “Federal Grid Company of United Energy System”, “AtomEnergoProekt”, the Research Institute “Burevestnik”, “Nizhny Novgorod Metro”, the Design Bureau “Vympel”, “Alekseev Central Design Bureau”, Afrikantov Experimental Design Bureau andothers) are involved in the academic process and research work. Annually 10–15 students enter the University by order of Minpromtorg and Rosatom. Almost every graduate is employed within the specialty area.
