Programme presentation. Training engineers of the specialty “Atomic Power Plants: Design, Exploitation and Engineering” is carried out within the profile “Design and Exploitation of Atomic Power Plants”. The Department’s graduates are skilled in research, design, production and technology, and management. The study process is oriented to fundamental training of specialists in mathematics, physics, thermal physics, general engineering and special disciplines, marketing and management in power industry.

Teaching staff. The study process is performed by highly-qualified teaching staff, which includes an academician and a correspondent member of RAS, 30 Doctors, and 60 Candidates of Sciences. Training is conducted by the University’s teachers in cooperation with leading specialists of atomic power industry.

Competitiveness of students. Employability of the Programme’s graduates is 100%; such a demand arises from rapid development of atomic power industry in Russia. Starting from the third year of study, students, who achieved outstanding results, are awarded scholarships of the State Corporation “Rosatom”, Concern “Rosenergoatom” and leading companies of atomic power industry.

Interaction with employers. The University effectively cooperates with companies of atomic power industry through creating basic departments at the companies and founding the companies’ research laboratories in the University. Such integration allows for a smoother adaptation period of young specialists and provides their rapid engagement in the working process. The students are placed for work experience at the leading national companies of atomic power industry and nuclear power plants. Students develop their qualification theses in the companies, which employ them after graduation. Special academic disciplines, which are included in the professional cycle of the curriculum, for the benefit of Nizhny Novgorod enterprises of the State Corporation “Rosatom”, are taught at basic departments of the University at NIAEP Company andˇ “Afrikantov Experimental Design Bureau for Medical Engineering” by leading specialists of the companies. Within the framework of the state funded training the University annually admits students by orders from companies of atomic power industry.
