HEI’s image. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology of Novosibirsk State Technical University offers a wide range of programmes. One of the most popular majors is Energy and Resource Saving Processes in Chemical Technology, Petrochemistry and Biotechnology. This major fully corresponds to the specialization of the University and it is in the list of the first-priority lines of the development of science, technologies and engineering in the RF approved by the RF President’s Decree No. 899 of July 7, 2011.

Programme presentation. In the course of study, the students master both fundamental general engineering subjects and unconventional advanced processes and technologies. Owing to the grant of the RF Ministry of Education and Science, important science and engineering outcomes have been achieved, which are being actively introduced in the academic process.

Teaching staff. The graduate department – the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology – is one of the leading departments at the University. Together with educational and research activities the staff implements international educational projects supported by the European Commission.

Competitiveness of students. Graduates are trained for production and technological, administrative, design and research activity. The field of professional activities of the bachelors includes creating, implementing and maintaining energy and resource-saving, environmentally safe technologies in the production of main inorganic substances, polymer materials, oil, gas and solid fuel processing products, microbiological synthesis, medicinal drugs and food products. Specialists also develop methods of processing of industrial and domestic waste products and recycled raw materials.

TEMPUS international project is being implemented at the Department. It was the basis for development of the adapted educational programme for training bachelors, masters and post-graduate students in accordance with the Bologna process requirements. This programme allows the bachelor graduates to proceed with the studies at the Master’s level in the leading European universities, acquire additional qualifications corresponding to the international standards.
