Achievements and awards. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2018. Students win regional and international robotics championships and olympiads (RoboCup Russia Open, IT Planet, Eurobot, the open selective championship WorldSkills in the Mobile Robotics competency).

The institute implements the grant of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research for robotics № 20-08-01056 A “Development of an approach to automated monitoring of electric power transmission lines using UAV that includes UAV motion planning and determination of the state of elements of electric power transmission lines based on analysis of images in different spectra.”

Teaching staff. Training is provided by 50 teachers including 26 Candidates of Sciences and ten Doctors of Sciences, two teachers got the Award of the SPb Government for research and teaching activities.

There is a research laboratory of design and programming of robotic systems working in cooperation with St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation RAS and a research laboratory of mechatronics and robotic systems working in cooperation with Robowizard Kawasaki.

Facilities and resources. State-of-the-art research and technology and laboratory equipment: DARwIn-OP2 anthropomorphic robot system; Baxter collaborative robot system; WorldSkills Mobile Robotics 2020 set from Studica; Robin РСС-1 Sfera USB training electromechanical robot with 3 degrees of freedom, etc.

Research. Control in engineering systems; robotic systems and complexes; cyber-physical systems in electric power industry.

Education. Combined use of technologies of robotics, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, virtual and augmented reality in the Learning Factory concept allows the institute to provide flexible digital technology education with direct involvement of students in the WorldSkills movement.

Strategic partners. The members of the Russian Association of Robotics: Robowizard, Omron Electronics, Fanuc, KUKA Russia.

International projects and programs. At the initiative of UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education and with support from the Dobot company and the SPb Government international intelligent Dobot design competitions are held.

Competitive advantages. Specialized laboratories of the SUAI Engineering School: robotics, AI, Engineering Garage, IoT, cybersecurity and unmanned aircraft systems; the International Conference on Electromechanics and Robotics “Zavalishin’s Readings.”
