HEI’s image. The educational programme “Information and Computer Science” of PenzaStateUniversity has been listed as one of the best educational programmes of innovative Russia during last 3 years.

Since 2011, the best students have been awarded scholarships of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation. In 2012-2014, the Department participated in the Presidential programme of further education of engineers “Designing Built-In On-Chip Computing Systems”.

Programme presentation. Bachelor-engineers of the specialty “Computers, Computer Systems, Complexes, Networks” are skilled in developing applied and system software, designing computer hardware of different classes. Graduates can install, use and administer computing systems and computer networks; develop software and hardware for interface computers with different devices and gadgets.

The Programme complies with priority trends of modernization and technological development of the Russian Federation. After graduation bachelors have the possibility to study master’s and postgraduate’s programmes.

Teaching staff. All the Department’s teachers have necessary professional education, which complies with the specialty demands. 89% of the teaching staff have academic degrees and titles, among them there are five Doctors of Sciences, Professors.

The major research trend of the Department is “High-performance computing systems and networks: designing methods and tools”. During the last five years teachers of the department have published over 50 articles in leading national and foreign journals, four monographs, obtained two invention patents and 39 certificates of the state registration of industrial and research software programmes.

Competitiveness of students. Specialists in computers and computer networks are required in the sphere of design, production and application of computer equipment: industrial, research and development enterprises, commercial companies and banks, educational institutions, federal and municipal institutions. Major employers of the Department’s graduates include: Protsenko Industrial Group “Start”, OOO “Cryptosoft”, OAO “Rubin”, OAO “NIIFI”, FRUP “Atlas”, OAO “Electromekhanika”, OAO “Rostelekom”, ZAO “ZolotaiaLinia”, ZAO “NIIFI and VT”, OAO “Radiozavod”.
