Programme presentation. The activity of a graduate in this area is aimed at using powerful capabilities of computers in solving various problems. The following profiles are implemented: “Automated Systems of Processing and Control”, “Computing Machines, Complexes, Systems and Networks” and “Software of Computer Equipment and Automated Systems”.

Objects of graduates’ professional activity are computer machines, complexes, systems and networks, their software, ways and methods of design, production and operation of hardware and software.

There is a Master’s degree programme “Informatics and Computer Engineering” and Postgraduate programmes “Computer Machines, Complexes and Computer Networks” and “Theoretical Foundations of Informatics”.

Access to the funds of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the RussianAcademy of Sciences (RAS) is available.

Competitiveness of students. Students regularly take part in various Olympiads in Mathematics and Programming. Since 2000 the University team has taken 1st and 2nd places at regional Olympiads in Mathematics. Students come through to the final round of the Siberian group of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. The Research centre of parallel computing technologies participates in the innovative programme “University Cluster”. Students successfully apply their skills in the development of regional IT-complex by working within their specialty.

Teaching staff. The teachers are leading specialists of Novosibirsk and the Siberian Branch of RAS: Academicians, Corresponding Members of RAS, Doctors of Sciences. Among them there are Y. Shokin, Academician; V. Mazurov, Corresponding Member; S. Mamoilenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences; professors B. Ryabko, A. Markhasin and others. The Faculty has educational centres and research schools.

Interaction with employers. The profession of an engineer-specialist in IT is a guarantee of successful career in almost any field of activity. Graduates are employed at the companies of Novosibirsk, the Siberian region and the Far East as well as in public authorities and local self-government bodies, financial, economic and banking organizations and companies which develop satellite, wireless and mobile network IT and ICT.
