Awards and achievements. In 2017 the educational program "Applied Informatics in Economics" underwent professional-public accreditation carried out by the Agency "Information & Computer Technologies Industry Association."

In February 2018 the university signed an agreement on joint implementation of the double degree program in Knowledge Management with Dresden University of Technology (Germany).

Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 81%. Eight percent of the teaching staff are Doctors of Science. There are two visiting professors: Steffen Holldobler, Professor of Dresden University of Technology and Marco Shaef, Professor of Sapienza University of Rome. The heads of regional specialized enterprises are also engaged in the program implementation.

Facilities and resources. The department has the specialized Data Management laboratory with state-of-the-art training and scientific equipment.

Research. Research is conducted in the area of high-load databases, database tuning and data mining.

Education. Bachelors are trained in Applied Informatics in Economics, and Masters are trained in Knowledge Management and Mathematical and Informational Support of Economic Activity.

Strategic partners. The strategic partners are Dresden University of Technology (Germany), University of Coimbra (Portugal), Ivannikov Institute for System Programming of the RussianAcademy of Sciences (Moscow), industrial enterprises NEOLANT Service, Business IT, etc.

International projects and programs. The Department of Applied Informatics was the leader in the ICT subject group as part of the Tuning Russia project of the Tempus European Commission.

Annually, NCFU organizes the scientific school "Computational Logic and its Application" in cooperation with Dresden University of Technology and University of Coblenz and Landau (Germany).

Competitive advantages. The department participates in regional, Russian and international grant programs and projects. It organizes the regular InternationalYouthSchool "Trends in Information Technology Development" (YSIP) in cooperation with the InternationalCenter for Computational Logic of Dresden University of Technology.

Assistance and support for foreign students and teachers. Today this program enrolls foreign students from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and other countries. The language of instruction is Russian and training is provided according to uniform curricula and programs.
