Awards and achievements. The program has been ranked among the Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia since 2011.

Teaching staff. The five departments of dentistry employ 16 Professors, 18 Associate Professors and over 30 Assistants, Candidates of Medical Sciences. The academic degree holders ratio is over 94%. The university develops academic staff mobility. Russian and German researchers are engaged in the teaching process.

Facilities and resources include six theoretical buildings, ten lecture halls, over 100 classrooms with the required equipment, the multidisciplinary accreditation and simulation center, two libraries, a reading hall, PCs with access to the core library resources.

Research. There are two cross-cutting themes of research including discipline-specific and comprehensive programs:

• "Etiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, aspects of clinical progression of dental diseases. Prevention, diagnosis, development of treatment and rehabilitation methods" (the work is conducted in cooperation with the Central Research Institute of Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery, Moscow),
• "Aspects of treatment and rehabilitation of dental patients affected by general somatic diseases" (the work is conducted in cooperation with Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I. Evdokimov).

Education. State-of-the-art active and interactive teaching methods and learning technologies are widely used.

Strategic partners. Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I. Evdokimov, Pavlov First State Medical University of St. Petersburg, the Central Research Institute of Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery. Companies such as 3M, Ormco, Oral-B, Colgate,  Invisalign, Dentspliy-Sirona, Rokada-Med provide state-of-the-art equipment and expendable materials to be used in the educational process. SamSMU is one of 57 members of the Dentistry Research and Education Medical Cluster.

International projects and programs. The university organizes educational internships and work placements for students in cooperation with Belarusian SMU, Tashkent SMU (Uzbekistan), Medical University of Innsbruck (Austria). Every year students undertake study placement at the University of Greifswald (Germany) and the Ivoclar Vivadent company (USA) under the supervision of teachers of dentistry departments.

Competitive advantages. Internships are undertaken at multidisciplinary preventive medicine organizations with laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, and other equipment, computer MRI scanners. 

The university develops the system of continuing medical and pharmaceutical education, delivers continuing professional education programs.
