Teaching staff. The program is delivered by highly qualified specialists, Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. The teachers obtained over 100 certificates of authorship and patents for inventions. They systematically improve their qualification through internships at the Russian Railways company branches or at specialized educational institutions (in particular, in Austria, Germany, France, Finland). The staff of the department deliver lectures in Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Bulgaria.
University partners within the educational program. To improve quality of training, students also attend classes given by external departments established at the branches of the Russian Railways company, Siemens, Bombardier, the Moscow Metro, the Kaluga Plant Remputmash railway equipment supplier, the Tvema company, a leading global firm in producing, manufacturing and distribution of railway security systems, etc.
Students’ achievements. The projects of students and postgraduate students of the department often became laureates of the All-Russian Exhibition of Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth, were awarded the UMNIK contest grants. Students regularly participate in scientific and technical conferences hosted by the top universities of Russia and the CIS countries.
Facilities and resources. The department has well-equipped laboratories of operation of track machines and road construction machines; reliability of track machines and road construction machines; mechanical handling facilities; robotic track machines; CAD and distance learning; hydraulic pneumatic actuators of track and construction machines; and computer classrooms with state-of-the-art software.
Opportunities for students. Alumni of the department have an opportunity to pursue a Master’s and postgraduate degree and undertake study placement abroad.
After graduation all alumni of the program find employment and have wide career prospects. Specialists are employed at branches of renowned Western companies in Russia as well as abroad (in Germany, Austria, England, and other countries).
Employment prospects. Alumni of the department are in great demand and are employed at many research, design and production enterprises such as the Engineering Design Center for Track and Track Machines, the Railway Transport Research Institute, the Kaluga Remputmash Plant, track maintenance trains, at permanent way divisions of the Russian Railways company, at the Moscow Metro and transport departments of industrial enterprises.
