Achievements. Since 2014 the educational program has been ranked among the Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia.
A high level of student competence was confirmed during the independent evaluation of the quality of students’ knowledge carried out by the Informexpertise Independent Non-Profit Organization in 2019.
Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is over 70%, the teachers’ average age is 45.
The educational process ensures the academic mobility of students in the European area. It is based on the following: 1. The competence-based principle of the principal educational program development. 2. Tracking of credit value and completeness of the principal educational program acquisition according to ECTS ( European Credit Transfer System). 3. The rating system is used to evaluate students' knowledge. The information resources and learning materials for students are available in the E-learning and M-learning on the university portal educa.usma.ru.
The specialized departments use simulators such as phantoms and dummies integrated into a single unit with a dental treatment unit. They serve as students' manual skills training simulators. There are also computer programs for tooth color determination and preparation, structural modeling, periodontal diagnostics, computer tomography, prognosis of surgical-orthodontic treatment outcomes with 3D visualization, biocompatibility testing of filling and construction materials and mouth personal hygiene products. The university regularly holds intramural, regional (the Ural Scientific and Educational Medical Cluster), all-Russian professional skills competitions.
Strategic partners. The university cooperates with top medical dental institutions in Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk Region, the dentistry faculties of Semmelweis University, universities of Copenhagen, Yerevan, and Minsk. Joint degree programs are implemented in cooperation with HEIs of the Ural Academic Medical Cluster, the Fundamental Dentistry Research and Education Center in cooperation with the Ural Branch of the RAS and Ural Federal University, supported by grant programs from companies Dentsply-Sinora, 3M-ESPE.
Competitive advantages. Students undertake internships at the university dental outpatient clinic with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, including 87 dental chairs, 60 phantom and 140 computer places, 12 endodontic microscopes and Carl Zeiss technoscopes.
Students have an opportunity to get parallel education by pursuing a CPE program "Clinician Scientist" (in English), which comprises three optional disciplines. It predetermines the development of an individual learning path “doctor-researcher” while pursuing a Specialist’s, PhD and doctoral programs in Dentistry.
