Accreditation. State accreditation (Certificate № 2943 of November 14, 2018). Professional-public accreditation (the Medical League, Certificate № 034/19 of December 20, 2019).
Awards and achievements. The General Medicine program was included in the reference book Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia in the Russian and English languages once again in a row.
Teaching staff. Training is provided at 48 theoretical and clinical departments that employ experienced teaching staff. Twenty-two departments are supervised by the Dean’s Office of the faculty. The teaching staff includes more than 360 people, 76% of whom hold academic degrees and titles. The younger generation of teachers at specialized departments are represented by SSMU graduates.
Facilities and resources. Students use the research library collections, have access to the Students’ Consultant electronic library system, the online BookUp electronic library. The in-house clinical facilities are Research Institute of Fundamental Uronephrology, Research Institute of Cardiology, the facilities of the multidisciplinary clinical hospital named after S.R. Mirotvortsev, Research Institute of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Neurosurgery, and clinics of occupational pathology and hematology, clinic of eye diseases, clinic of skin and sexually transmitted diseases, and the best medical and preventive treatment institutions of Saratov and the Saratov Region where the SSMU clinical departments are located.
Education. There are practical skills centers with modern simulation technologies and state-of-the-art computer classrooms. There is an in-house simulation center for the primary and specialized accreditation of graduates. Different types of distance learning and the
e-learning environment based on modern IT are used.
Research. The main basic and applied research and development activities are carried out in the following theoretical and clinical areas: fundamental uronephrology, clinical pharmacology, therapy, cardiology, orthopedics, and traumatology.
Competitive advantages. One hundred years of experience in training doctors in General Medicine allow teachers to train highly competitive specialists. The university boasts the high-technology modern learning environment and preserves the best traditions of the
Russian school of medicine. In 2021, the university rector initiated the innovative educational project “Doctor of the Future” aimed at comprehensive multi-level training of healthcare personnel of new generation. The program includes development and implementation of
individual learning paths, innovative educational technologies, programs of personalized medicine, innovative entrepreneurship and healthcare management. The best students of the Faculty of General Medicine were selected for participation in the program. The faculty
launched the Mastery Schools training programs, which is determined by high demand for healthcare professionals having a new set of competencies and aimed at ensuring continuity, practical orientation and personalized learning.
Employers and employment. Graduates obtain degrees with a qualification of General Practitioner. They are sought-after specialists at various medical institutions in Russia and abroad. In 2021, all 490 graduates were sent to their places of employment, and 340 of them have an official confirmation.
