In accordance with the Cultural Agreement Program between Denmark and Russia, the following scholarships are available for students from Russia:
Scholarships for 5-12 months for PhD students
Scholarships for 5 or 10 months (1 or 2 semesters) for Master's students
Scholarships for 5 or 10 months (1 or 2 semesters) for Bachelor's students who study Danish language and literature
40 months in total are reserved for Russian students each academic year. Unused months can not be carried over to the next application round.
Purpose
Scholarships are available for Master's and PhD students. PhD students are required to conduct full-time research at a Danish university or a similar institution of higher education in Denmark. Master’s students are required to take on a course load of 30 ECTS per semester.
Bachelor's degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language at a university for two years. Bachelor's degree students are also required to take on a course load of 30 ECTS per semester.
In order to encourage the establishment and development of direct contacts and agreements between institutions in Denmark and Russia, priority will be given to applicants who are affiliated with such projects.
Priority will also be given to applicants who want to study the language and culture of Denmark.
Conditions
Applicants must apply through, and be nominated by, their own national authorities. Please contact the Ministry of General and Professional Education of the Russian Federation or the Russian Academy of Sciences for further information.
Candidates nominated by their national authority must be approved by the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education and the desired host institution in Denmark. The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education screens all applications before forwarding them on to the requested institutions for assessment and final approval.
In order to come into consideration for a scholarship, applicants must have arranged an appropriate study program. Applications should include a detailed description of the intended project of studies/research in Denmark.
Please note you are ineligible for a scholarship if:
You are already enrolled or planning to enroll in a full degree, joint degree, or double degree program in Denmark. Full, joint, and double degree students are not considered exchange students and are ineligible for scholarships.
You are not currently enrolled in, or conducting research at, an institution of higher education in your home country.
You are not enrolled in, or conducting research at, an institution of higher education in your home country in the academic year in which you are applying for a scholarship for.
You intend to pursue studies at a bachelor’s level during your stay in Denmark in fields other than Danish language and literature.
You plan to conduct studies or research on a part-time, rather than a full-time, basis.
Deadline
The deadline to receive the nominations for the 2020/21 Danish Government Scholarships will be March 1, 2020 at 23:59 (CET).
Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration. Please read all the instructions on the application form carefully before completing it.
Please note that being nominated by your home country’s national authority does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education screens all applications before forwarding them on to requested institutions for assessment and final approval. The institutions reserve the right to request further documentation, e.g. portfolios.
