RUDN and Rosatom will train staff for African projects
At the Russia-Africa Forum Vladimir Filippov, Rector of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, and Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, signed an agreement to promote new knowledge and advanced technologies from Russia in African countries.
RUDN maintains partnership relations with 28 African countries: Morocco, Algeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Ghana, Gabon, Zambia, Cote DʻIvoire, Benin, Namibia, Nigeria, Chad, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Congo, Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Angola, South Africa. In total, the university implements 150 joint educational programs in cooperation with foreign universities as part of 250 international agreements.
The agreement will promote Russian educational programs and technologies for atomic and related majors in the partner countries of the Rosatom Corporation, development of international programs as part of interuniversity cooperation, recruitment of international applicants from Rosatom's partner countries to Russian universities as well as the projects for sociocultural adaptation of international students.
Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, said, "Joint efforts of RUDN, that has many years' work experience in Africa, and Rosatom, that implements projects as part of humanitarian cooperation, will not only heighten interest in Russian nuclear education, but also will encourage development of national systems of nuclear education and staff training in African countries."
According to RUDN Rector Vladimir Filippov, the parties can also cooperate in "development and approbation of the model of preparatory training" in the Russian language and vocation-related subjects - for those applicants in Rosatom's partner countries who consider entering Russian universities.
