Nizhny Novgorod universities want to attract more Chinese students
According to Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, universities in the region are interested in increasing the number of Chinese students.
Foreign students, including those from China, are attracted by the quality and accessibility of education in the universities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Of 3,500 foreign students who study at Nizhny Novgorod universities, about 400 represent China. This is a good indicator, but the potential of this type of cooperation is much higher.
According to the Governor, about 30 cooperation agreements have been signed between Nizhny Novgorod and Chinese universities. The universities of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region have especially close relations with the universities of the Chinese provinces of Anhui and Sichuan.
“The Volga-Yangtze International Russian-Chinese Youth Forum is a single platform for developing contacts in the field of education. Constant cooperation is maintained at the level of the Association of Universities of the Volga Federal District and the regions of the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River,” Nikitin added.
He noted that the region also has a university, which is part of the prestigious federal “Project 5-100,” - Lobachevsky University. This university has agreements with Hefei University, Tongling University, Sichuan University, and also with the University of Foreign Languages of Chongqing.
