Tyumen State University (TSU) is a co-organizer of the international Olympiad for foreign Master's students. The international Olympiad for Master's applicants 'Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project' has been conducted for the second year in a row with support from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation). The project is organized by the Association of Global Universities. The international Olympiad provides a unique opportunity for foreign citizens to pursue the best Russian Master's programs free of charge. The remarkable thing is that today TSU enrolls over 1000 daytime international students including representatives of 35 CIS and non-CIS countries. Several dozens of attendees from Africa and Asia study Russian at the preparatory division and prepare for a Master's degree in TSU. This is a good opportunity for the preparatory division attendees and bachelor graduates to have a shot at the intellectual competition and obtain a Russian Master's degree free of charge.
Valery Falkov, Rector of TSU: 'At the moment one of the main tasks of Russian universities is to strengthen their competitive positions on the global market of educational services. That is why TSU offers the flagship Master's programs of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities and School of Advanced Studies (Digital Cultures and Media Production), the Institute of Environmental and Agricultural Biology (Plant Biosecurity) and others (in Biology, Philology, and Linguistics) for foreign citizens. For example, this year 33% of the total number of foreign students admitted to TSU have been already enrolled in Master's program in Plant Biosecurity of X-Bio Institute. A citizen of any country (except Russia) who has a Bachelor's degree or is completing it in 2019 can take part in the Olympiad. Selection is conducted online. Application deadline is January, 31, 2018.
