Programme presentation. The Faculty trains specialists who are able to use modern computer and information technologies in order to perform applied and fundamental tasks of science and technology in different areas of human activities. The curriculum provides quality training in the sphere of modern computing and information technologies as well as work and programming experience in different operation environments.

The study process is based on a well-developed computer network including terminal classrooms of the Faculty, computing cluster and equipment of the three research centres. All study guides of NSTU are presented in the e-catalogue of the scientific library of the University.

After the thesis defence Bachelor students have a possibility to continue education in the Master’s programme and then in the postgraduate programme in the following specialties “Software of Computing Systems, Complexes and Networking”, “Theory of Computer Science”, “Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Methods and Programme Systems”.

Novosibirsk State Technical University offers two more best educational programs in the field of Physical and Mathematical Sciences:

PHYSICS - Bachelor’s program, Master’s program

MATHEMATICAL SUPPORT AND ADMINISTRATION OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS - Bachelor’s program

Teaching staff. The highly-qualified teachers of the two graduate departments – Department of Applied Mathematics and Department of Software Systems and Databases – play a key role in the training of Bachelor students. In addition, two special departments participate in the educational process – Department of Parallel Computing Technologies based on the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics of SB RAS and Department of Computing Technologies based on the Institute of Computing Technologies of SB RAS. Generally, 3rd-year students are involved in re-search and projects carried out at these departments.

Competitiveness of students. At present graduates of the Faculty work efficiently in different areas of the national economy, state and private sector connected with mathematics and computer science. They carry out mathematical modelling, systems programming and research in the sphere of computer science in project, branch and academic research institutes including SB RAS institutes. Many graduates have degrees and work successfully in the USA, Japan, France, Canada and Israel. This is an example of a high level of graduates education and training.
