III International Festival "Student Spring of the BRICS and SCO Countries"
During the Educational Forum of the III International Festival "Student Spring of the BRICS and SCO Countries", which was held from 4 to 9 June 2019 in Stavropol and brought together more than 2,000 participants from 23 countries, the international practices of quality control in higher education were presented. The forum’s speakers represented the educational accreditation organizations from Russia, Armenia and China.
The introduction and training of experts from among students interested in receiving high quality education has become a common trend in the education quality evaluation system in Russia, Armenia, Europe as a whole and China. Each country develops and implements its own projects for training and work of such student experts.
According to Lemka Izmaylova, Director of the National Accreditation Agency, the agency is a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and its activities comply with the requirements of European standards. In the European system, a student is a full member of the expert group.
In Russia, 85 student experts have been trained to participate in expert groups evaluating the quality of education in universities. A similar program is being implemented in Armenia. Along with other experts, students conduct surveys, analyze educational programs, evaluate universities from the standpoint of students' prospects. Some experts then continue their professional activities at the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Education and Science.
Dr. Hao Zhing, the representative of the Chinese quality assurance organization, focused on the demand of young people for modern education forms in accordance with the recommendations of UNESCO. In China, new forms of education are being introduced, such as smart audiences, applications with access to classes at any time convenient for students, the use of QR codes in the classroom.
At the meeting of the heads of departments for youth affairs of the BRICS and SCO countries, which also took place in Stavropol, foreign heads of delegations noted, among the top priorities, the exchange of educational programs and projects and increasing access of university students to high quality education by scaling successful projects in this sphere.
