The Russian language version of the world university RUR ranking (Round University Ranking) 2019 has been published. 820 universities from 74 countries participated in the ranking.
Round University Ranking (RUR) is an international ranking of leading world universities published by RUR Ranking Agency (Moscow, Russia). The ranking provides comparison of more than a thousand leading universities from 80 countries around the world for nine years (2010-2019) according to 20 indicators distributed into four areas: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability.
The US universities take the lead according to the number of universities taking part in the ranking, and the notable Harvard University tops the list. The Russian Federation is represented by 74 universities taking the second place by the number of participating universities.
Experts noted a significantly increased level of provincial Russian universities. They have become attractive for foreign students from both the former USSR countries and from the far abroad.
Universities of the former Soviet Union states are also represented, but in the top 500. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Belarusian State University and some others are among them.
"There are a few universities from the post-Soviet states. A significant shift in the direction of Russia is marked, since only 25-30 universities from all other republics of the former USSR are represented this year. However, the number of these universities is increasing steadily. There were only 10-12 universities that presented their work to us five years ago. The growth potential is significant here. We expect there will be 75 Russian universities and the same number of HEIs from the neighboring countries", - stated Oleg Solovyev, Editor of Round University Ranking.
