Programme presentation. Specialty “Medical Care” trains intellectual medical professionals, who can render scheduled medical and diagnostic assistance and emergency medical treatment of wide spectre of diseases. The academic process is oriented to forming practical knowledge and skills with the help of up-to-date technologies on the basis of the centre of simulation technologies. Every student has access to the electronic library system Colibris, departments’ electronic resources, and the University’s library information centre.

The University cooperates with the HEIs of Japan and Germany. Currently there are 48ˇforeign students in training at the Faculty.

Teaching staff. Today the Faculty consists of 17 departments and clinics; its teaching staff includes 216 teachers, among them 17 professors, 82 assistant-professors. Over 73% of the teaching staff has scientific degrees. Many teachers have been awarded professional titles: “Honoured Doctor of the RF”, “Expert of Health Service”, “Honoured Worker of Science of the RF”, “Honoured Inventor of the RF”. The Faculty’s research schools “Problems of aetiology, diagnostics and treatment of cardiac arrhythmia”, “Neurology and neurorehabilitation”, and “General surgery” are widely popular.

The teaching staff participates in programmes of academic mobility. In 2013 the Faculty’s teachers conducted 10 lectures in Japan, Finland, Taiwan, France, and Belarus. Foreign specialists from Germany, Japan, Greece, Taiwan, France and Lithuania conducted 8 lectures for teachers and students of the Faculty.

Competitiveness of students. The passing grade according to the results of the state examination in 2014 was 226. The Faculty’s teams successfully participate in national Olympiads in therapy, surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics. Annually several students are awarded scholarship of the Academic Council, the President and the Government of the RF. The majority of students participate in research activity, which results in 500 publications annually, reports at the University’s and national conferences.

Interaction with employers. The Ministry of health service of the region and representatives of practicing medical professionals participate in the State final attestation of graduates; regularly conduct career-guidance meetings with students. Practical classes are held in the best clinics of the city.
