HEI’s image.BashkirStateMedicalUniversity is an award winner of the interregional competition “Best Higher Education Institution of the Volga Federal District – 2010”. In 2011-2012 the University got the certificate of compliance of the quality management system in delivery of educational services with the requirements of GOST ISO 9001-2009. In 2010 the University was included in the official register “The National Quality Mark”, and got the right to use the logotype.
Teaching staff. Today the Faculty of Pediatrics of Bashkir State Medical University includes 16 departments. Five departments are specialized and based on Ufa’s multi-profile clinics and child health centres, which are supplied with up-to-date equipment. The teaching staff consists of professors, assistant-professors, assistants; specifically – a correspondent member of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Bashkortostan, 39 professors, 37 assistant-professors and over 70 candidates of medical sciences. Some of the teachers are awarded honorary titles: “Honoured Worker of Science of the Russian Federation”, “Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation”, “Honoured Worker of Higher School of the Russian Federation”, “Honoured Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation”, “Honoured Doctor of the Republic of Bashkortostan”, “Expert of Health Service of the Republic of Bashkortostan”.
Competitiveness of students. Annually 220 students are admitted to state-funded places of the programme “Pediatrics”. There are also 220 fee-paying places. About 50% of students are trained on commission from rural areas of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Students have access to electronic library system, which contains publications on the basic study disciplines. The University houses public organizations, sports and creativity societies, students’ scientific society. The University encourages development of voluntary activity.
88% of students passed the Federal Internet-Examination in the sphere of professional education (FEPO-16) with the result of 80-100%, which indicates a high level of students’ knowledge.
The Faculty’s graduates are highly employable in the Republic of Bashkortostan and other regions of the Russian Federation. They work in prevention and treatment institutions, rescue service, military organizations.
Interaction with employers. The main training base for the students of the Faculty of Pediatrics is the RepublicanChildrenClinicalHospital. Practical courses are also conducted in clinical departments, which are located in city and republican multi-profile and specialized treatment institutions. As a rule students are placed for working experience, in the children’s departments of multi-profile clinics and children’s health centres of Ufa and other cities of the republic.
