The discussion of current issues that contemporary science and higher school are facing, united over 250 delegates from 20 countries of the Eurasian continent, USA, Australia as well as over 30 world-level speakers: heads of higher education institutions, government officials, representatives of business and expert community.

Keynote speakers were Susan Robertson, professor of education at the University of Cambridge; Christopher Morphew, dean of the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University; Sir Malcolm Grant, chancellor of the University of York and chairman of NHS England; and Alex Wai, vice-president of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Other confirmed speakers include Bhavna Davé, chair of Contemporary Central Asia and the Caucasus at Soas, University of London; Yi Pan, vice-president of Nanjing University; Ellen Hurwitz, president emerita of the American University of Central Asia; and Andrey Svistunov, vice-rector of I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

The top three universities in THE university ranking of Eurasia nations are Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology - MIPT, and Tomsk Polytechnic University. The top ten universities also include Higher School of Economics (7th place), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (8th place), Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University (10th place).

Phil Baty, Editor-in-Chief of THE World University Rankings, paid attention to the fact that the major achievement for Russia is to occupy the top three positions, and to have six universities in top 10, and Russian universities’ total number constitute more than one-third of all HEIs included in the rankings.

THE university ranking of Eurasia nations was released for the first time. It evaluates HEIs from 16 countries: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. A total number of 27 Russian universities entered the ranking of the best Eurasian HEIs. The ranking indicators are fully in line with the overall THE ranking indicators: teaching, research, citations, international outlook, industry income.

According to Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, such summit allows HEIs to increase their recognizability. Besides, as Yi Pan, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Nanjing University (People's Republic of China) noted, to become the top world-class university it is highly necessary not only implement high quality educational programs, develop innovative solutions but also be informationally transparent for the whole world.

The representatives of Accreditation in Education Company visited this important for the professional community event. As noted by Ekaterina Shigapova, Director of Accreditation in Education Company, universities are facing the following challenges: HEI's brand positioning as a factor of international competitiveness improvement; HEI as a news source; influence of informational transparency on HEI's performance; insufficiency of informational promotion of its achievements.

International media project «Informationally transparent HEI. International level» contributes to the promotion of Russian HEIs and is aimed at developing international academic cooperation and higher school internationalization by means of state-of-the-art media tools, identifying the leading universities in the sphere of informational transparency and distribution of their best practices.
