Awards and achievements of the educational program. In 2013 the program was accredited by the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Career Development (AKKORK). The program was also top ranked within the project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia in 2010. Since then this status has been annually confirmed.
Ural State Medical University offers some more best Specialist's programs in the field of Healthcare:
Teaching staff. The program is delivered by 164 teachers including 51 Doctors of Sciences and 74 Candidates of Sciences. Well-established research and scientific schools recognized on the national and international levels significantly contribute to the development of the program. These schools are run by Professor B.P. Kushelevsky, Professor D.G. Shefer, and some others. Teachers take an active part in academic mobility.
University partners within the educational program. A good share of research work is carried out in cooperation with the Research Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the State Comittee for Science and Technology and higher education institutions of the Ural region. The faculty partners include regional research institutes, healthcare institutions of Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk Region.
Students’ achievements. The students are awarded with the scholarships of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region for academic excellence. Student teams often win in all-Russian contests and olympiads in surgery, obstetrics, neurology, traumatology and other vocation-related subjects. Students do research and present their research results in different forums and publish in journals. The employers’ demand for graduates often exceeds the number of graduating students. The faculty is proud of its student council, sports and artistic student achievements.
Facilities and resources. There are computerised classrooms in all the buildings of the university and clinics. All the courses are supported with e-contents. The educational portal www.educa.usma.ru provides access to all the information resources of the departments. Simulators of the Practice research and education center, classrooms equiped with teaching simulator systems enable students to acquire and practice skills, develop field-specific competencies. Non-resident students are accommodated in a comfortable dormitory.
Opportunities for students. Students do their practical training at federal research institutions, multispecialized healthcare centers supplied with state-of-the-art equipment. In the framework of the IFMSA program up to 15 people take part in international academic mobility and do their on-the-job placement in healthcare clinics abroad.
Employment prospects. The qualification of a general practitioner offers a wide choice of specializations at a medical residency: surgeon, gynecologist, oncologist, infectiologist, mental specialist, ophthalmologist, oto-rhino-laryngologist, roentgenologist, heart surgeon, neurologist, neurosurgeon, dermatovenerologist, beauty expert, and others.
