Teaching staff. Over 70% of the teaching staff hold academic degrees and titles, including over 10% of Doctors of Sciences. The faculty has its own scientific schools in hygiene, epidemiology, public healthcare, microbiology, virology for the teaching staff and students to do research. The staff of the degree-granting department include top representatives from the industry: Chief Sanitary Officer of the Sverdlovsk Region, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.V. Kuzmin; Director of Yekaterinburg Medical Research Center of Preventive Medicine and Health Protection of Industrial Employees V.B. Gurvich; Head of the Department of Social and Hygiene Monitoring of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Sverdlovsk Region, Candidate of Medical Sciences O.L. Malykh, and others.
University partners within the educational program. The faculty cooperates with the divisions of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing in terms of program design, student target training, on-the-job placement. In 2014 the administering Department of Social Hygiene and Sanitary and Epidemiological Service was established at the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing in the Sverdlovsk Region and the Center of Hygiene in the Sverdlovsk Region.
Facilities and resources. Computerized classrooms, classrooms equipped with course-related presentation facilities, museums, laboratories, centers for practical skills improvement, classrooms with teleconference equipment. The library electronic and paper-based resources are adequate and sufficient for all the courses included in the curriculum. Non‑resident students are accommodated in a comfortable dormitory.
Opportunities for students. Students train and reinforce their professional skills in different hospital departments and divisions of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing. Upon completing their third year of studies they may be allowed to be employed as the nursing staff. Every student is welcomed to do research work, volunteer during different events, do sports, art and become a member of the student council. For exceptional academic excellence students and postgraduates are awarded with the scholarships of the President and Government of the Russian Federation, of the Administration of the Sverdlovsk Region. Some do projects supported by the UMNIK, START, and RFFI national grant programs.
Employment prospects. Qualified as practitioners on general hygiene and epidemiology, graduates from the program can pursue their medical residency and postgraduate degrees.
