Awards and achievements of the educational program. The educational program in Pediatrics delivered by Samara State Medical University was successfully accredited by the External Review Panel in accordance with the European standards for quality assurance in higher education (ESG-ENQA) in 2015. The Guild of Experts in the Sphere of Professional Education and the National Centre for Public Accreditation recognize the program as one of the best educational programs in Russia.

Teaching staff. The faculty employs 27 Professors, 46 Associate Professors, 42 Assistants, five Senior Lecturers, including two Honorary Scientists of the Russian Federation. Almost 83.8% of the teaching staff hold academic degrees. Many faculty staff members are also employed as the leading non-staff specialists of the Ministry of Healthcare in the Samara Region. For the past five years the academic staff of the faculty received 98 patents for inventions and utility models, 62 grants of different levels including the grants received by students.
University partners within the educational program. Samara State Medical University is the coordinating institution of the Nizhnevolzhsky research and education medical cluster in the Volga Federal District. The University cooperates with pediatric faculties of Saratov State Medical University named after V.I. Razumovsky, Bashkir State Medical University, Orenburg State Medical University (Russia).
Students’ and alumni’s achievements. Beginning from 1969 the faculty has trained over 5,000 pediatricians, who were employed after graduation all over Russia. The faculty’s alumni work as head physicians or leading specialists in healthcare institutions, units, and profile departments.
Facilities and resources. Six buildings for theoretical training, 10 lecture rooms, over 100 classrooms, the Training and Production Center of Simulating Education are at students’ disposal. Students have access to the university electronic educational portal which provides the core learning resources in all the courses and practical training sessions included in the program. All the clinical departments are properly equipped, there are consulting and diagnostic rooms. Students have all the conveniences on campus.
Opportunities for students. Students usually do their on-the-job placement in the Samara Region. Employer-sponsored students do their practical training on the job location. Students may choose to do internships abroad (Belarus, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Macedonia), or the individual trajectory (Germany, France, Thailand, etc.) Students involved in research work often present in local, regional, national and international conferences.
Employment prospects. Pediatrician, neonatologist, pediatric infectiologist, pediatric surgeon, resuscitationist, etc. During residency training graduates from the faculty may requalify to work with adults as they get sufficient knowledge and skills in both pediatrics and adult treatment.
