Awards and achievements of the educational program. The program was top ranked in the project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia (2011-2016).

Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy offers some more best Specialist's programs in the field of Healthcare:


Teaching staff. Forty-three departments are involved in the program delivery. The teaching staff comprises 485 teachers including 22% Doctors of Sciences and 55% Candidates of Sciences. Nineteen percent of the teaching staff hold the academic title of Professor and 36% hold the academic title of Associate Professor. The teaching staff are annually invited abroad to deliver lectures as visiting professors.

Academy partners within the educational program. The departments of theoretical training are located in nine academic buildings. The departments of clinical training operate in the leading healthcare institutions: Nizhny NovgorodRegionalClinicalHospital named after N.A. Semashko, Municipal Clinical Hospital No.5, Municipal Hospital No.13, Municipal Children’s ClinicalHospital. In total, over 100 municipal and regional healthcare institutions, 35 relevant institutions located in other regions of the Russian Federation, and 40 healthcare units located in the near and far abroad countries facilitate the learning and teaching process.

Students’ and alumni’s achievements. Around 100 students annually graduate from the faculty. Many current Professors and Associate Professors of the pediatric departments have gained significant achievements in their profession (I.A. Pereslegina is the Minister of Healthcare of the Nizhny Novgorod Region). Graduates from the faculty are well known far beyond the region (M.Sh. Khubutiia is the director of N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine). Alumni from the faculty work in 17 countries worldwide (V.P. Bobko is the personal physician of the President of the Republic of Maldives)

Facilities and resources. Educational internship and on-the-job placement are conducted at the clinical units with all the necessary departments. Students undergo simulation training at the center of practical training and hand-on experience classrooms. Students benefit from free access to the e-library system as well as from the integrated information and library system. Based on the results of their academic achievements and exceptional excellence some students are awarded with personal scholarships (the scholarship of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, Professor D.F. Agafonov’s fellowship).

Opportunities for students. Students may choose to participate in research clubs (the Club of Children’s Surgery was announced the best at all-Russian conference in Yekaterinburg). In these clubs students gain skills of experimental and clinical research (the third place in all-Russian contest in pediatrics, St. Petersburg; the first plsce in all-Russian Conference of Students’ Research Clubs, Rostov-on-Don). The best students continue to pursue their degrees in clinical residency and postgraduate school.

Employment prospects. Pediatrician, pediatric surgeon, neonatologist, and others. Graduates from the faculty may be employed in pediatric positions as well as practitioners working with adult patients.
