Teaching staff. The Faculty of Preventive Medicine (earlier, the Sanitary and Hygiene Faculty) has been part of the academy for more than 50 years. Lecturers are highly qualified professionals: 93 are Doctors of Sciences (20%), 261 are Candidates of Sciences (55%), 69 staff members have the academic title of Professor (16%), and 148 are Associate Professors (31%).
Academy partners within the educational program. The academy cooperates with the leading specialized institutions such as I.N. Blokhina Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, institutions of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, the Federal Hygiene and
Students’ and alumni’s achievements. It’s already a tradition to participate in subject-oriented Olympiads and take winning places (the first place in the all-Russian olympiad in Epidemiology,
Facilities and resources. The bacteriological and PCR-laboratories of the Research Institute for Preventive Medicine are the clinical site of the Epidemiology Department of Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy, and consequently, a site for the whole range of large-scale medical research activities. The students and members of Student Research Associations take part in the clinical development and testing of devices, tools, materials, apparatuses, and technologies.
Opportunities for students. Graduates can continue their education taking medical residency and postgraduate studies, and within continuous professional training. There is a students’ club, sports and spiritual educational centers.
Employment prospects. Alumni work as hospital epidemiologists, deputy chief doctors, heads of subdivisions, methodologists, medical statisticians and clinical laboratory doctors. They are in demand in regulatory and supervisory organizations in the sphere of sanitary and epidemiological welfare.
