Awards and achievements of the educational program. The Department of Pediatrics has close ties with Saarland University in Germany, which allows maintaining a high level of research focused on foreign studies. The work of the staff of the Department of Polyclinic Pediatrics on children’s health formation is highly appreciated by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation and was used for creating a universal Russian program. The participants of the research association of the Department of Pediatric Surgery repeatedly took top places at national student research conferences.

DENTISTRY, PHARMACY, GENERAL MEDICINE 

Teaching staff. The faculty staff amounts to over 300 teachers including almost 200 Candidates and 50 Doctors of Medical Sciences, three holders of the title Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation, 11 Honored Doctors of the Russian Federation, and two Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Research School of Professor A.F. Vinogradov is well-known far beyond the Tver Region. Many teachers work in practical healthcare.

University partners within the educational program. The university partners within the West-European Medical Cluster are: I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Ivanovo State Medical Academy, Smolensk State Medical University, Kursk State Medical University, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, the Medical Faculty of Saarland University in Germany.

Alumni’s achievements. The graduates of the faculty are in demand at the hospitals of Tver and the Tver Region. They are employed in the Tula, Kaluga, Bryansk, Pskov, Moscow Regions as well as abroad. A number of alumni hold senior positions and work as medical directors of clinics, heads of departments of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Tver Region.

Facilities and resources. During the course of studies along with getting professional knowledge future pediatrician can also do research, be involved in the public activity, play sports or study art. The student associations, the Council of Young Scientists, the Educational Work Authority, the cultural center help the young people to evolve into many-sided personalities. An abounding library collection is available to students; there is internet connection in computer classes and Wi-Fi on the grounds of the university and in dormitories.

Opportunities for students. Medical attendant’s, nursing and general medical practical trainings are held at the leading hospitals of the city. Students start getting acquainted with their future profession from the first year; and oftentimes the place of their first practical training becomes their place of work in the future. In 2016 for the first time ever the International Children’s Camp “Artek” was used as a practical training site of the academy.

Employment prospects. Immediately after graduation students can work as district pediatricians. Graduates can continue their education in medical residency and specialize in various areas of pediatrics, therapy and surgery, for example, it is possible to become a neonatologist, an obstetrician-gynecologist, a surgeon, a general practitioner, an anesthesiologist- resuscitator, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, a traumatologist, an endocrinologist, an emergency physician.
