Teaching staff. The Faculty of General Medicine consists of 50 theoretical and clinical departments, and 25 of them are main departments of the faculty which employ 62 Doctors of Sciences and 235 Candidates of Sciences, 53 Professors, 115 Associate Professors and Assistant Professors, and other highly qualified employees.
Facilities and resources. Students use the research library collections, have access to the electronic library systems "Students' Consultant," the electronic library on-line BookUp. The educational process involves the in-house clinical facilities: Research Institute of Fundamental Uronephrology, Research Institute of Cardiology, the multidisciplinary clinical hospital named after S.R. Mirotvortsev, Research Institute of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Neurosurgery and clinics of occupational pathology and haematology, clinic of eye diseases, clinic of skin and sexually transmitted diseases, and the first-rate medical treatment and preventive care institutions of Saratov and the Saratov Region where the clinical departments of the university are located.
Research. The main basic and applied research and development activities are carried out in the following theoretical and clinical areas: fundamental uronephrology, clinical pharmacology, therapy, cardiology, orthopedics and traumatology.
Education. There are practical skills centers that use state-of-the-art simulation technologies, state-of-the-art computer classrooms, the in-house simulation center for primary and specialized accreditation of graduates. The teachers use various distance learning modes and the electronic educational environment implemented based on state-of-the-art IT technologies.
Strategic partners. The university cooperates with First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov, the "Nizhnevolzhsky" research and education medical cluster, the Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities (RCAMU), the Union of Rectors of Medical Higher Education Institutions of Russia.
International projects and programs. Students and teachers of the Faculty of General Medicine take an active part in academic mobility programs regularly undertaking study and instruction at leading universities of Kazakhstan, Belarus and other former Soviet republics and participate in the IFMSA international student exchange program with work placement at leading medical centers and clinics of Europe.
Competitive advantages. A hundred years' experience in training specialists in General Medicine allows the teachers to train highly competitive specialists. The university boasts the high-technology modern educational environment and preserves the best traditions of Russian school of medicine.
Assistance and support for foreign students and teachers. The university has the Dean’s Office for International Students and the International Department. The faculty enrolls about 600 foreign students from over 50 countries.
