Teaching staff. The Faculty of Pharmacy consists of 13 departments. Sixty-seven percent of teachers have academic degrees of Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. The degree-granting departments are the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the Department of Pharmacognosy, the Department of Pharmaceutical Management and Economics, the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology.
Facilities and resources. The university has all the necessary facilities and resources for disciplinary and interdisciplinary training, student laboratory and research work. The university established the GMP training center based on the principle of modular systems ("a room in a room") with a set of engineering systems and having ample opportunities for giving practical courses and hands-on classes using test industrial equipment and testers.
Research. Research is conducted in the following areas: development of composition and technology of solid, liquid and semisolid dosage forms; evaluation of equivalence of medicinal products using in vitro methods; pharmaceutical development of medicinal products, development of chemico-toxicological analysis techniques; development of techniques for phytochemical analysis of medicinal plant raw material (MPRM); standardization of MPRM and herbal medicinal products; improvement of methods and development of techniques for testing pharmaceutical drugs; development of techniques for detecting falsified medicines using physicochemical methods; development of technology for pure phenolic compound recovery from plant raw materials; development of molecular genetic methods of the MPRM analysis; the use of fluorescence microscopy in the analysis of MPRM containing essential oils, etc.
Education. The teachers use the learning process management systems based on the Moodle system intended for performance and control of students' independent work and current control of their knowledge. New materials are updated and added taking into account the changes in steering documents.
Strategic partners. The university cooperates with pharmacy chains such as Saint Petersburg Pharmacies, Nevis, Ozerki; the pharmacies of healthcare centers, the Drug Quality Control Center of the university, the analytical laboratory of the Leningrad Region, etc. The university also collaborates with many Russian and foreign pharmaceutical companies (Biocad Biopharmaceutical Company, Grotex (SOLOPHARM), R-Pharm, etc.) in various areas of activity.
International projects and programs. The university is a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). It maintains close professional relationships with global pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Тakeda, Novartis.
Competitive advantages. The faculty is the leader in pharmacy education in Russia. Graduates are in great demand on the labor market.
