Kyrgyzstan universities and colleges will independently develop their educational programs
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic has developed a draft government decree on changing the layouts of state educational standards of higher education and secondary vocational education.
The Ministry proposes changes to the layouts of state educational standards for universities and colleges.
Currently, universities independently develop only 50% of the curricula, the remaining 50% are disciplines taught as part of the state educational standard.
Thus, on the one hand, each university and college will have the opportunity to independently develop educational programs maximally aimed at developing the graduates' competencies required by the labor market. On the other hand, the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic expands the ability of educational institutions to respond promptly to employers' requests, reduces the gap between the training of graduates and the requirements of the labor market.
The proposed changes will increase the importance of accreditation procedures, during which an educational institution should show its achievement of learning outcomes and will increase responsibility of educational institutions for the quality of education provided.
