Uzbekistan & QS: agreement on supporting universities to join WUR

As part of the fulfillment of the Uzbekistan Presidential Decree of January 17, 2019 “On the State Program for the implementation of the Action Strategy in the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021 in the Year of Active Investments and Social Development” and the Decree of February 26, 2019 “On measures to improve the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in international rankings and indices”, the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Inom Madzhidov and the QS Regional Director (Quacquarelli Symonds) Zoya Zaitseva within the framework of Ilm-fan - 2020 program (Science 2020) signed a strategic agreement to support universities to join the QS WUR ranking.

As part of this agreement, the QS Intelligence Unit will assist in clarifying the methodology, as well as using open and internal QS data, the team will review the results of universities at the global, regional and subject levels. This analysis will help highlight areas of strategic achievement and potential success, as well as justify the strengths and weaknesses of universities in Uzbekistan on key indicators.

The results will be presented in accordance with the strategic focus of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The QS World University Rankings is a global study, the accompanying ranking list of the best world universities in terms of their achievements in the field of education and science. The ranking is calculated according to the methodology of the British consulting company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and is considered to be one of the most influential global university rankings.

The inclusion of universities into international rankings will foster the development research potential of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan.
