OPEN INNOVATIONS Forum 2018. The latest developments in Medicine

October 16-17, 2018

Moscow, Russia

SKOLKOVO INNOVATION CENTER

The latest technologies and innovative projects in medicine will be discussed by leading Russian and foreign experts at the 7th Open Innovations International Forum for Innovative Development in Moscow. The media partners of OPEN INNOVATIONS Forum are Accreditation in Education Company and Higher Education Discovery.

On October 16-17, scientists, doctors, representatives of research institutions, large business corporations and start-ups will talk about the world's latest developments in healthcare at the Open Innovations Forum.

Panel discussions and a round table will be dedicated to new solutions in the world of biotechnology, successes in gene and cell therapy, prospects of gene editing, tissue bioprinting, personalized medicine, artificial intelligence and scientific breakthroughs in extending the length of people’s lives.

“Today, genomics (and other omics), smartphones and fitness trackers, and social media interactions help urban dwellers to longitudinally monitor and maintain their own (and public) health as they measure cell-free DNA, the heart rate, calorie consumption, number of steps and key word searches. These developments have created many opportunities: precise diagnosis based on big data analysis, personalized data collection to inform medical decision-making, predictive causal analysis for intelligent interventions, etc. But they also create new challenges for biotech (gene identification and correction), bio-chemistry (drug discovery) and robotics (robotic medical assistants and remote robotic surgery),” emphasized Bud Mishra, Professor of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University.

In cooperation with medical practitioners, scientists are inventing new treatment methodologies, many of which often do not require surgery, long-term recovery or nursing care. New drugs that have an entirely different effect on diseases are being actively developed and launched on the market. Dr. Henk van Houten, Head of the Dutch company Philips Research, will talk about the key projects aimed at creating highly efficient drugs to fight various age-related diseases. He will raise the issue of a universal system for full-body medical diagnostics.

The Open Innovations Forum will specifically focus on developing a digital medicine market under circumstances where healthcare is rapidly shifting from treatment to preventive care.

Digital medicine trends in smart cities and the latest pharmaceutical studies will be presented by Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca, Dmitry Morozov, CEO of BIOCAD, and Michael Yugay, CEO of the SKOLKOVO International Medical Cluster Fund.
