How can foreign graduates help Russian universities?

The creation of mechanisms for working with foreign graduates of Russian (Soviet) universities is one of the key events in the promotion of Russian education abroad.

Bilateral agreements on trade and economic cooperation with other countries under the code name "staffing or joint staff training" should include an educational component as a link between industry agreements (contracts), participation of Russian universities in staffing agreements (contracts), and attracting foreign students to Russian universities for targeted education. In this sense, the principle of distribution of quotas for foreign students in Russia will become transparent and effective (15,000 quotas are allocated annually), and potential applicants will be guided by real prospects for future employment when choosing a Russian university and associate their careers with Russia.

According to the World Alumni Association, today more than 1,5 mln graduates of Russian and Soviet universities are employed in more than 160 countries. Many of them have achieved high status and recognition in their countries, which creates a positive image of the Russian education in the country. Among the graduates of Russian (Soviet) universities that are in power are Angolan President João Lourenço, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev.

International alumni associations seek to maintain communication with the alma mater in Russia. Although after the collapse of the USSR, many national associations and organizations of foreign graduates of Soviet higher education institutions ceased to exist, nevertheless, the process of their re-establishment and establishment of new associations has now begun. Now they are available in 60 countries, but not all of them can be active.

At the same time, the activities of national associations and other organizations of graduates of Russian (Soviet) universities need constant support from the Russian authorities and organizations, and the federal project “Education Export” should be supported by foreign graduates of Russian universities who confirm the quality of Russian education through personal example.
