Japan will strengthen the security regime in universities to prevent technology leakage to China
According to The Japan News, the Japanese government intends to strengthen the security regime in private universities through which cutting-edge technologies might leak to other countries, in particular, to China. Now, the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry of Japan is developing corresponding rules.
First of all, according to this data, it is a case of American developments related to artificial intelligence, robotics and biotechnology. The USA strengthens the security regime regarding such information, and the Japanese government intends to bring its rules in compliance with the requirements of Washington.
According to the Ministry, in fiscal 2017 Japanese universities conducted over 350 joint research projects with foreign companies and organizations. Such cooperation with Chinese companies such as telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies has significantly increased.
This arouses concern in the USA that threatened to sanction Japanese research centers which can let technologies leak to other countries.
