Leading Russian universities will propose measures to improve competitiveness

Besides, the Council will prepare recommendations to continue the provision of state aid to Project 5-100 members (for the Ministry of Higher Education and Science) and proposals to update competitiveness improvement programs (for Project 5-100 members) ".

The representatives of 21 university teams will speak at the meeting in Kaliningrad including Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, NUST MISIS, Higher School of Economics, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University, Far Eastern Federal University.

Prior to the meeting Mikhail Kotyukov, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, recalled that not less than five Russian universities should secure their positions in Top 100 of leading world rankings by 2020.

Mikhail Kotyukov: 'It is important to understand that Project 5-100 is aimed at not only promoting Russian universities in rankings, but also at improving the competitiveness of the entire Russian higher education system and integrating it into the international academic space through the formation of the group of leading universities'.

According to Kotyukov, HEIs should build up an effective policy to improve their competitiveness, ramp up human resources, develop science, introduce joint educational programs with Russian and foreign partners.
