Putin instructed the government to increase the quota for international students
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to consider the possibility of increasing the annual quota for international students so that the number of foreigners studying at Russian universities will increase at least twice. The list of instructions following the meeting with the Council of Legislators was published on the Kremlin website.
The Government of the Russian Federation should consider the expediency of increasing the annual quota for foreign citizens, including compatriots living abroad, to receive secondary vocational education, higher education and supplementary professional education in Russia at the expense of the federal budget allocations, in order to implement the strategic task of increasing the number of foreign citizens studying in Russian higher education institutions and research institutions in at least twice.
Putin also instructed the Cabinet to consider taking further measures to expand the opportunities for foreign citizens and compatriots living abroad to receive general education provided in the Russian language in the CIS countries.
