Countdown to CAIE COLOMBIA-2019

During the CXLIII National Council of Rectors of the Colombian University Association (ASCUN) held on October 22, the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), which serves as the Executive Secretariat of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE), launched the countdown to the sixth edition of this great event.

True to its inter-American and multi-sectoral nature, the CAEI Colombia-2019 will take place in Bogota from October 23 to 25, 2019 with the support of ASCUN and a hosting national committee, made up of prestigious Colombian higher education institutions (HEIs), government entities and private sector partners.

"Over the recent months, CAIE secured the signature of new associate members exceeding forty. This alliance of national and regional higher education associations confirms the position that CAIE has carved out for itself, not only at a continental scale, but also on the international scene, for each new edition of this event attracts major players in the field of higher education from everywhere," indicated Dr. David Julien, Executive Director of CAIE and of IOHE.

WHY COLOMBIA-2019?

The increased presence and dynamism of Colombian HEIs and associations on the international stage demonstrate their continued commitment to the advancement of a common inter-American forum to hold discussions regarding current challenges, best practices and future trends in the field of international education.

About 20 Colombian HEIs, both public and private, along with key players in the higher education sector, make up the host committee of CAIE's sixth edition and their commitment to this important event has allowed the conference to be held in Colombia in 2019.

WHAT IS CAIE?

The Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) is the continental forum, par excellence, that brings together the key decision-makers involved in the internationalization of higher education in the Americas to strengthen contacts, exchange experiences and prepare the future of academic cooperation in the region.

CAIE is organized every two years in partnership with higher education institutions and regional, national and international organizations and offers a platform to promote good practices, analyze challenges and share emerging trends in international education in the Americas.

Since its creation in 2010, the CAIE Secretariat, located in Montreal, has been supported by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada's International Education Branch.
