Memorandum of understanding signed by Kazan Federal University and Huawei
On November 14, 2018 Kazan Federal University received the delegation of Huawei, one of the largest Chinese telecommunications companies. The delegation comprised President of the Huawei European Research Center Zhou Hong, Director of the Moscow Research Center of Huawei Lǚ Rui, as well as the company's specialists and experts.
KFU was represented by Vice-Rector for Innovation Dmitry Pashin.
The delegation of the Chinese company paid its first visit to Kazan University in June. Then, having presented Huawei, Mr. Lǚ Rui told that since this year Huawei intends to invest more in Russia. The Chinese side is especially interested in cooperation in the field of research and development.
During this meeting the delegation representatives continued their acquaintance with the university structure. The representatives of Huawei got acquainted with the main areas of activity and projects of the Institute of Physics, Alexander Butlerov Institute of Chemistry, and the the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Information Technologies of Kazan Federal University.
Dmitry Pashin: 'The parties discussed the possibility of creating a joint laboratory and building a joint technopark. The main thing is a systematic work with the Chinese company, search for solutions that will be introduced into industry. In particular, we talked about new electronics, translational medicine, telehealthcare services, and many other things.'
During the visit the memorandum of understanding was signed. The document determines the principles of mutually beneficial scientific and technological cooperation and joint innovation/ investment projects. The partners agreed to further determine the set of conditions for strategic cooperation and/or collaborative activities in the following areas: search, research, development and transfer of technologies in innovation sectors taking into account market needs, modern and advanced requirements of digital economy; implementation of innovation/investment projects; satisfaction of scientific and technological needs, research, development and engineering.
Following the meeting the partners agreed that as late as on November 22, KFU will receive the first team of specialists to discuss the establishment of a new laboratory at the Institute of Physics.
