At least 14 Russian language education centers will be established abroad
At the V International Humanitarian Livadia Forum in Yalta a plenary session was held, which was opened by Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council.
The event was attended by Olga Vasilyeva, Minister of Education of Russia.
Vasilyeva noted that special open education centers would be established abroad as part of the departmental target program “Scientific-methodological, methodological support and staff assistance for teaching Russian and the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation” for 2019–2025.
“As part of this program, we are planning to launch at least 14 Russian language open education centers and Russian language teaching centers in foreign countries, provide advanced training for foreign Russian language teachers, and organize events dedicated to the Russian language.
Until the end of 2019, 14,000 foreign citizens who study the Russian language will be able to take part in these events. "We intend to develop projects taking into account the proposals of the Commission members and we have already received very interesting proposals,” Minister said.
Vasilyeva also spoke about the successful implementation of the humanitarian project initiated by Matvienko to support educational activities of Russian teachers in schools of the Republic of Tajikistan.
“Interest in the project has already been shown by a number of other countries. This year we are planning to send 17 teachers to Kyrgyzstan and five teachers to Vietnam. Such initiatives are being mapped out with Belgium and Mongolia,” Minister stated.
