Education Export in Ulyanovsk State Technical University

Ulyanovsk State Technical  University cooperates with many foreign educational, scientific institutions, organizations, firms, funds and programs in the field of improving education, conducting scientific research, academic, scientific and cultural exchange, arranges and participates in international conferences, seminars, exhibitions, enrolls foreign students, organizes internships for teachers and researchers from abroad in various scientific areas. The University makes focused effort to integrate itself into the world educational system by developing comprehensive ties in the field of education and science.

The strategic goal of the university is to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of study programs implemented at the university on the international market of educational services.

Ulyanovsk  State Technical  University does its best to ensure that education export is properly implemented, and the cosy atmosphere is created for young people from different countries of the world.

At present, Ulyanovsk  State  Technical  University is a home to 500 foreign students from 35 countries of the world: Azerbaijan, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Belarus, Vietnam, Guinea-Bissau, Germany, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Israel, India, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Cameroon, China, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Ethiopia. Over the past 5 years, there has been a 4-fold increase in their number. In the coming years, it is planned to increase the number of international students of UlSTU to 1000 or more.

In 2018, Ulyanovsk  State  Technical  University established the International Institute. The structure of the International Institute includes engineering and preparatory faculties, the Department of International Education, the Admission Office, the ServiceCenter, the Administrative and Legal Support and Social Adaptation Service, the Technical Support Sector, the External Relations Department, the TechnologyTransferCenter.

As part of the first stage of the implementation of the "one-stop shop" principle, the International CitizenServiceCenter has started its work at the International Institute of the UlSTU. Here you can use the "electronic queue" system, solve the main tasks related to migration accounting and visa support, admission to the university, education, accommodation, medical insurance and medical examination, work and other issues, including the preparation of certificates, contracts and other documents. The use of the "electronic queue" system at the service center allows you to simplify and significantly reduce the waiting time for reception, creating a favorable service atmosphere and significantly improving the efficiency of the university staff.

Ulyanovsk  State  Technical  University was awarded the Prize for Internationalization of Higher Education in Russia and the CIS (EEUA 2018) for the development of international activities and the implementation of the project "Organization of the international service at UlSTU according to the "one-stop shop" principle. The solemn Prize awarding ceremony took place at the 7th International Conference on the Development of Higher Education IUNC Eurasia 2018 (Moscow, May 14-16, 2018, StateUniversity of Management).

The Internationalization of Higher Education 2018 Prize is an annual contest of Russian universities (and the CIS universities) in the field of internationalization of higher education, thanks to which the best international projects of higher education institutions gain fame, positive reputation and recognition, and professionals get an opportunity to exchange experience and get acquainted with the best practices.

The award is given to higher educational institutions for their achievements in the field of international activity and the internationalization of higher education. The prize is designed to draw the attention of the professional community and the public to the universities' annual contribution to the development of national higher education, the formation of the country's reputation in the international market of educational services, as well as to individual and collective contribution to the university development.

The Prize nominees in 2018 included the Ulyanovsk  State  Technical  University, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, the Orenburg  State  University, Peter the GreatSt.Petersburg  Polytechnic  University, and the Chechen State  University. The Prize was established by the Eastern  European University Association.
